Case Study | The Birth Of A Freelance Blogger – Chapter 1 Part 5: Important New Year’s (2013) Announcement

An important New Year's (2013) announcement

So we have all been here before – setting new year’s resolutions. For most of us all those shiny resolutions became void by the time we got to Feb 01. Not this one though, that’s a promise.

Those of you who are following my journey of living the successful life of a freelance blogger would know that I am all set to start attracting my first paying freelance blogging client. And that’s what I have been trying to do up until now. I have created profiles on sites like Odesk, Elance, People Per Hour and I have also pitched a number of potential clients on the Problogger.net Job Board.

One good thing or response I got with which I am quite happy is from a site called Geek Magazine. Although they have already filled all their paid writing positions for the new year, they did offer me a position as a guest blogger. I gladly accepted this position for one reason and one reason only: I am allowed an author bio within my posts and the blog gets read by a number of daily visitors, which should give me some great exposure. It’s a win-win for both the magazine as well as for me.

My New Year’s (2013) Announcement

Having said all that, I still need to look at other ways to attract paying clients and I intend on doing just that. So what is my strategy to accomplish this?

You are looking at (reading about) an aspiring Amazon Kindle Bestseller! Yep, that’s right. I am going to enter the world of Kindle Publishing. I am just beyond the 4700-word mark with my first Kindle book and hope to publish within the next week or so. This is indeed the first chapter if you will of a series I plan to write called “The Birth Of A Freelance Blogger”.

This first book or chapter will indeed be a short read consisting of between 5000 – 10000 words and will cover my personal transitioning process from being a regular guest blogger to being a freelance blogger ready to get paid while doing what I love doing – blogging.

In upcoming chapters I am planning to cover a number of topics which I believe will turn me and possibly other into better freelance bloggers. However, this first chapter will not be educational orientated but rather a personal case study of how I turned a dream into reality by taking massive action and set things up so I can do what I am truly passionate about and still be able to make a decent living.

Now besides the fact that being a successful Kindle Author means a decent monthly recurring income (passive) which is greatly welcome of course, in addition the that I am going to use the Kindle platform as a marketing strategy to build my credibility and readership, possibly even attract new clients, who knows what the results will be.

How Do I Plan To Use Kindle As A Marketing Strategy?

It’s quite simple actually. As an author you are allowed to include in your book whatever you like giving it is legitimate and offer your reader value. This what I’m planning to do. The first book will include a blueprint of what I believe it takes to become a successful freelance blogger. This will be based on the action I have personally taken to set things up for my business, what I think you should know as an aspiring freelance blogger, what skills I think is necessary and everything else you may need to get started. I will give you step-by-step guidelines on how to get everything in place the shortest time possible.

Sounds interesting, don’t you think? This way I’ll be linking back to FreelanceBloggingLife from within my books, with some form of action requested to readers of my books which will hopefully encourage them to start following my work and journey here on the blog. All depending on how serious they are to change things for themselves of course. This will also ensure that I filter out the time-wasters from the people that are really interested in improving their careers and whom will do what it takes to start living their passion.

Your Insights Are Highly Valued

So that was my New Year’s announcement for 2013! If all goes according to plan I will be publishing my first book within the next week or two, so stay tuned for updates!
